Dr. JC Mao is a General Partner and Distinguished Fellow at Fellows Fund. Previously, he was the Vice President of Engineering at Google from April 2021 to April 2023, leading the Google Assistant Engineering organization. His tenure at Google included overseeing the development of foundational technologies such as Speech and Natural Language Processing, as well as Google Assistant product. Prior to Google, Dr. Mao was Corporate Vice President at Microsoft, overseeing Microsoft Advertising product, engineering and marketplace operations. Dr. Mao's career also includes significant roles at Yahoo, Verity, and IBM. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Michigan State University and is an IEEE Fellow with over 50 publications and 33 U.S. patents. Dr. Mao's professional journey reflects extensive experience in leading AI-driven technology development.
